قال الله تعالى

 {  إِنَّ اللَّــهَ لا يُغَيِّــرُ مَـا بِقَــوْمٍ حَتَّــى يُـغَيِّـــرُوا مَــا بِــأَنْــفُسِــــهِـمْ  }

سورة  الرعد  .  الآيـة   :   11

ahlaa

The headlines are telling us “Ukraine is in serious trouble” and this means the empire has given the media the green light to report the truth. Russia’s defence industrial base is reportedly firing on all cylinders and producing weapons and ammunition at a rate the west cannot match. It’s now clear Russia’s main reason for taking its time was to build up stockpiles and transition to a wartime economy. It has now made that transition, having nullified Ukraine’s counter-offensive and regained ground it lost. The momentum has shifted massively in favour of Russia which has returned to pre-war strength. Russia is…
During a landmark visit to Islamabad in April 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping and then-Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif launched the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project under the umbrella of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Initially valued at $46 billion, the investment pledges soon swelled to $62 billion, equivalent to one-fifth of Pakistan’s GDP, encompassing numerous high-profile energy and infrastructure projects connected to CPEC. Pakistani officials consider CPEC to be a key pillar of their country’s “all weather” relationship with China, emphasizing its significance in Pakistan’s agenda for enhancing regional connectivity and promoting sustainable development. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hailed CPEC as a…
When a demon like Rupert Murdoch is forced to grovel, who does he grovel to? The answer is Satan of course. Rupert Murdoch is someone world leaders grovel to because they know if they fall out of his favour, it can be the end, but even the mogul who decides the outcome of western elections grovels to Benjamin Netanyahu. In 2013, The Sunday Times published the following cartoon from Gerald Scarfe, captioned: “Will cementing the peace continue?” One day later, Rupert Murdoch tweeted: “Gerald Scarfe has never reflected the opinions of The Sunday Times. Nevertheless, we owe major apology for grotesque, offensive…

Why the media have failed Gaza

كتبه
Yesterday was World Press Freedom Day, and it is fitting we mark it by highlighting two things. First, we should honour the brave journalists of Gaza who have paid a horrifying price for making the Palestinian experience of genocide visible to western audiences over the past seven months. Israel has killed a tenth of their number – some 100 journalists – as it tries to prevent the truth of its atrocities from getting out. Israel’s has been most deadly eruption of violence against journalists ever recorded. Second, we must shame the western media – not least the BBC – who…
Following the long-awaited release of the U.S. aid package for Ukraine, the best-case scenario for Kyiv in 2024 appears to entail minimizing Russia’s gains to incremental advancements, particularly at the height of its defense spending. But what if Russia’s military expenditure has not yet peaked? The West’s delay in extending aid to Ukraine has bolstered Putin’s sense of assurance. War fatigue is palpable in the West, while Russia possesses ample resources, both human and financial. From the Kremlin’s standpoint, U.S. aid may not directly challenge Russian military superiority in Ukraine, but could heighten the costs associated with maintaining it, thereby…

Biden and Blinken’s Timorous Israel Policy

كتبه
ong after the current administration passes from the scene, President Joseph R. Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be remembered not for their bumbling, embarrassing encounters with the Chinese, nor for their steadfast refusal to negotiate a peaceful settlement with the Russians, which set off a disastrous war that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. Instead, they will likely be remembered as the abettors of Israel’s transformation of Gaza into an abattoir, and will leave a legacy as bloodstained as Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger’s. But, to be fair, Nixon and Kissinger knew which country was theirs; they understood that the United States…

Imagining a Free Palestine

كتبه
“Where is Ahmad?” The soldier called my name while we were stopped at the last Israeli checkpoint on the way from Ramallah to Jerusalem. I am a Palestinian American. But once I’m in my ancestral homeland, I’m not an American in the eyes of Israeli authorities. I am simply Palestinian, denied the basic right to movement and pilgrimage to the Holy Land. For too long, Palestinians in the diaspora, like myself, became travelers on our soil. We tried to forget the realities of occupation in the West Bank, and that a few hours south in Gaza our brothers and sisters…

West Africa’s model of ballots over bullets

كتبه
Senegal’s peaceful democratic change sets a model for governing with humility and trust in a region beset by military coups and violence. In early April, the military-run regime in the West African country of Mali banned all political activity. The reason given? For the sake of “public order.” Yet the timing suggests another factor. In neighboring Senegal just the month before, citizens voted out an incumbent president after his unlawful attempt to stay in office. This peaceful transfer of power through democracy did not go unnoticed in a region overrun in recent years by military coups and violent jihadism. In…

How to talk about Israel and Gaza on a college campus (or anywhere else)

كتبه
A few months ago I met with a group of students to talk about what’s happening in Israel and Gaza. Some were Jewish, some were Palestinian. I'm sharing what we discussed again in hopes that it might be helpful to others in discussing this ongoing tragedy. The purpose of the meeting was to see what they could agree on, morally. As you can imagine, emotions ran high. I suggested that, at least for the purpose of our conversation, they not think of themselves as either “Pro-Palestinian” or “Pro-Israel” but instead look deeper into what basic moral principles were at stake.…

China picks its lowest-scoring officers to command nuclear submarines

كتبه
The job of commanding a nuclear submarine should go to smart and well-qualified officers. Or at least that's the case in Western navies. Not so in the Chinese navy. Except for engineers, Chinese submarine officers tend to come from military academies with the lowest college-entrance-exam scores, a US military analyst said. This suggests that People's Liberation Army Navy sub commanders are not the "best and the brightest" officers who may be most equipped to cope with the stresses and challenges endemic to submarine warfare. Based on China's college-entrance exam — called the gaokoa — the People's Liberation Army Navy engineering…
